Hajj: The Fifth Pillar of Islam

The Hajj (the pilgrimage to Mecca) is the fifth and final pillar of Islam. It is an extremely exceptional love that obliges Muslims to go to the blessed city ofMecca in Saudi Arabia at a specific time of the year to celebrate specific ceremonies.

"Hajj" comes from the Arabic word "ج ح", َ which phonetically means "to go to a place to visit".In Islamic formulation, Hajj is a journey to the Kaaba, the "Place of Allah", in the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

The trip to Makkah is unique for all adult Muslims who are genuinely and financially capable and can support their families during their death.Hajj ceremonies take place over 5 or 6 days according to the Islamic lunar calendar.

The travel period begins on the eighth day of each year and ends on the thirteenth day of Dhu alHijjah, the last month of the Islamic timetable.

·        At Hajj, the Hujjaj (pilgrims) perform Ihram and adopt a progression of customs:

Each Muslim walks several times counter-clockwise around the Kaaba (a block structure and the title of the petition for Muslims), runs (staggers vigorously) back and forth between the slopes of theSafa and Marwah several times, then at that time drinks from the well of Zamzam, goes to the fields of Mount Arafat tostays awake, spends a night in the plain of Muzdalifa and performs the representative stoning of Satan by throwing stones.
