Similar to other operating systems Windows has always offered ways of editing and viewing photos. The experience was enhanced by Windows 11 and the Microsoft Photos app for Windows. The new version of Windows 11, Microsoft is revamping its built-in Photos app, which will provide the needed performance and UI enhancements.

Windows 11 will update the Photos app with a fresh user experience, editing capabilities including fluid Design, WinUI controls, corner rounded edges, and many more.

Photos , which is going to be configured to be the primary image viewer for Windows 11, will allow users to browse collections albums, folders, and collections. The Collection feature is unchanged and will display the most recent images and screenshots, according to date.

Albums are also created by Microsoft's UI technology, however, users can alter the experience using the albums they create themselves.

Based on the screenshot above it appears that like the Microsoft Photos app is getting floating menus with editing controls. It's not clear if there'll have any new editing features however you can expect the app to come with all the features that are available for Windows 10 users. Windows 10.

This new floating menu lets users to use the + and buttons to zoom in and out. This is also possible using an actual mouse.

On the bottom of the screen you'll find a brand new slider that lets you navigate through different images within a particular album, collection, or even your entire folder of photos.

Alongside The Photos apps, Microsoft has also confirmed that it is developing a new File Explorer and Windows Settings design. Like the Photos app, the Explorer and Settings apps will be getting a more simplified user experience as well as brand new icons for many of the built-in buttons.

To support File Explorer, Paint and Notepad, Microsoft is replacing the header ribbon (which is located on the top of the application) with a brand new Fluent Design header that has one row of actions as well as new icons.

Windows first-party app interfaces are now more clean due to the correct application of acrylic transparency, smooth icons and round corners.

We're also anticipating a brand forthcoming Groove Music app and Outlook client, however it's not clear when these apps will be released in the coming year.

According to reports, Microsoft is working on an integrated web-based Outlook application that will give users more performance and allow the use of rounded corners that give an edgier and modern appearance. Alongside visual enhancements as well as performance improvements, Outlook's updated Outlook app will come with an organization explorer that is designed for customers with enterprise accounts.
