How to Change Your Gmail Password

Online safety is more important than ever. Password security should always be a top priority. Google makes it easy to change your Gmail password, whether you want to protect your personal information from malicious hackers and/or add security between your online identity with the rest of the globe. Here's how it works.

  1. Go to Google.com Sign in Now if you haven't signed up for an account.
  2. Click on the Account button. Click the Account button in the upper-right corner. It's the one that has the account photo or, if there is no photo, your first initial. Click Manage Your Google account.
  3. Click on "Security." Click the Security tab on the left side of your screen.
  4. Select "Password". Choose the Password option in the middle of your screen.
  5. Sign in. Google will prompt you to sign in again with your current password before it can be changed.
  6. Pick your password. Now, it's time for the hard part. Google recommends that passwords be at least 12 characters long. They should contain a unique combination or letters, numbers, and symbols.

Don't give out information that someone can easily find on your social media pages like your pet's name and your birth date when choosing a password. Don't use obvious passwords such as "123456", "password", or "picture1". These passwords were among the most common, with five of them appearing in the top 5.
