Which is coldest country in the world

Top 10 coldest countries in the world

1.EastAntarctic Plateau Antarctica (-94degC) The East Antarctic Plateau claims the title of the coldest place on Earth. Satellite data collected between 2004 and 2016 at Dome Argus and Dome Fuji, which are the size of Australia, suggest temperatures could be around -94degC. This is the coldest temperature on Earth, but researchers believe the region's dry air could increase the temperature.

2) Antarctic Vostok Station (-89.2)Founded in 1957 by the Soviet Union, The Vostok Institute is located in the cold Antarctic, the southern Hemisphere region with the lowest surface temperature ever recorded. Thermometers reached a low of -89.2 deg C here in July 1983. This is the lowest temperature ever measured directly. It is also one of the driest places on Earth, with about 20 mm of rainfall per year, all covered with snow.

3) Amundsen-Scott Station, Antarctica (-82.8 deg C) Coldest Place on Earth (Amundsen-Scott Base)Jens Dreyer; US Antarctic ProgramAmundsen-Scott Station, located at the South Pole, was built in 1956 and is exposed to sunlight for six months in summer and darkness for six months in winter. The highest recorded temperature in this region of the East Antarctic Plateau was on Christmas Day 2011 when the thermometer climbed to a mild positive of -12.3degC. The coldest reading was -82.8 °C in June 1982.

4) Denali, Alaska, USA ( -73 deg C) Coldest place (Alaska Denali-Mt McKinley closeup)John Lewandowski / Alamy Formerly known as Mount McKinley, Denali is the tallest mountain in North America at over 20,000 feet above sea level. With an average temperature of around -10 degrees Celsius, only half of those who attempt to reach the summit manage to reach the summit. From 1950 to 1969, weather stations measured temperatures around -73 deg C, but wind chill can drop as low as -83.4 deg C.

5) Clink station in Greenland (-69.6degC) The Clink Weather Station holds the record for the coldest place in the Arctic. Located in central Greenland, it reached -69.6 °C, about 2 degrees above the previous record set by Oymyakon (see below) in December 1991. Despite these low temperatures, much of Greenland's ice is melting rapidly. 6) Oymyakon, Siberia, Russia (-67.7 deg C) Oymyakon is the coldest permanent place on Earth and is located at the North Pole of the Arctic Circle. In 1933, the lowest temperature was -67.7 deg C. Schools would only be closed with less than 500 inhabitants if temperatures dropped below the average winter low of -55degC.

7) Northern ice, Greenland (-66.1degC) Built during the British North Greenland expedition in the 1950s, the laboratory held the lowest temperatures in North America. In 1954, the temperature dropped to -66.1 deg C.

8) Yakutsk, Siberia, Russia (-64.4 deg C) Coldest Place (Yakutsk Central Market, Russia)Yevgeny Sofroneyev / TASS via Getty Yakutsk is one of the coldest cities on Earth and sits on permafrost. The region has some short but warm summers, with temperatures reaching 38.4degC in 2011, but also experiences long and icy winters. In 1891 the temperature dropped to -64.4 deg C. Located along the Lena River, it is often cold during the winter months and is so strong that the river freezes and can be used as a road.

9) Hook, Yukon Territory, Canada (-62.8 deg C) In 1947, about ten indigenous people lived in the small Yukon village of Snug in northwestern Canada. The village was used as an emergency landing site during World War II and later as a weather station and recorded a low temperature of -62.8degC, prompting researchers to do so.
